Ridley Scott Offers Alien Prequel Hints
Ridley Scott offered a few specifics about his still-untitled Alien Prequel in an interview with The Independent .
"The film[s] will be really tough, really nasty," says Scott of the proposed two-part prequel, which he says will take place 30 years before the first film, "It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"
Scott refers to the first film's Space Jockey, part of a mysterious race of giants that carried the alien egg as their cargo. A mystery in the first film, the creature's origins have not been explored in subsequent entries to the franchise.
Two prequel films are being prepped to shoot...

Civilization V Demo Coming 9/21

The official Civilization V website has news that the promised demo will be released on September 21st, 2010, the same date Civilization V launches in the United States.

The question many of you are probably asking now is “didn’t you say it would be available before the release date?” The answer to that question is yes, I did. At the time of that announcement, we expected to be able to get the demo out before the 21st, but unfortunately we weren’t able to finalize it in the timeframe we had initially planned, and for that we’re very sorry. However, we have managed to get it out the same day as the North American release. So for those of you who have been waiting to try out the demo before buying the game, you can still do that with enough time left to run out to the store (or purchase on Steam) and have the full game on the same day as everyone else. |
RDR: Liars and Cheats and Undead Nightmare $DLC Details, More Free DLC Coming

Rockstar has detailed their "Liars and Cheats" $DLC pack that'll be released on September 21st for $9.99 on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. While you'll get multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and Poker, there's no multiplayer Horseshoes... which is what I personally wanted. Here's a list of the features:
- Multiplayer Poker and Liars' Dice Games
One of the most fan-requested features comes to multiplayer.
- Multiplayer Horse Races
Ride out against your friends and foes online - with mounted combat guns blazing.
- The Explosive Rifle
A devastatingly destructive new weapon with its own new single-player and multiplayer challenges.
- 7 New Gang Hideouts
Posse up and take on the new Hideouts together to level up quickly.
- 4 New Hunting Grounds
New Hunting Grounds are now visible on the map for all to see, with some of the most action-packed wildlife hunting yet.
- Stronghold Competitive Multiplayer Mode
Teams take turns in attack and defense in multi-tiered Competitive games.
- Posse Scoring and Leaderboards
Compare stats with other posses and compete to see who are the kings of the Free Roam frontier.
- Plus, 15 additional multiplayer characters from the Red Dead Redemption storyline are being made available as multiplayer characters, and more all-new Achievements and Trophies.
In the very next breath, they've spilled some of the beans on their Undead Nightmare Pack which is primarily a single player bit of $DLC. They're claiming it will have a lengthy, new single player campaign which follows Marston around while he tries to find a cure for a plague hitting the land.
Lastly, they've stated in the coming months, they'll be releasing some more free updates, including the Hunting and Trading Outfits Pack which will bring new challenges and some outfits.

Teen kills disabled girl, plays DDO to “forget”
While video games have long been used as an escape from life, there are few instances where that sentiment is more tragic than a recent crime in Seattle.
On August 17th, 18-year-old Tyler Savage led police to the body of a developmentally disabled teenage girl, whom Savage admitted to killing then raping. After hiding the body, Savage went to a neighbor's house and logged into Dungeons & Dragons Online. Savage wanted to be a video game tester, and told the police he spent many hours gaming every day. He claimed that playing DDO helped him to forget his crime, a crime to which he has since pleaded "not guilty." Detectives are trying to figure out if he was trying to enact a game fantasy in real life, although Savage's defense attorney claims that this is "pure speculation."
Savage's victim was a participant in the Special Olympics and had known him for two years. If convicted, Savage could receive the death penalty.
